Everyday Maths Skills - Fractions, Decimals & Percentages (Level 2) PDF Print E-mail

Once you’ve grasped the basics of using fractions, decimals and percentages, you’ll be able to make sense of and compare a huge range of different numbers. This course helps you to develop the skills you need to perform more difficult calculations using fractions, decimals and percentages.

It begins by developing your knowledge of fractions. You’ll learn how to compare fractions, and how to add and subtract fractions with the same or different denominators. Then it explores decimals and gives you new techniques to add, subtract, multiply and divide them, both with and without a calculator. Finally, you’ll learn how to perform percentage calculations in everyday situations – from working out how much discount you’ll get if a product is reduced by 30% to calculating how much VAT you’ll need to pay.

As you move through the course, mini tests let you check that you’ve understood the learning and give you the chance to practise your new fraction, decimal and percentage skills in realistic, everyday situations.
