Fractions and decimals are simply different ways of talking about parts of something. Whether you want to know if 2/5 is bigger than 1/3, or need to add decimals using a calculator, this course will give you the key skills to work with parts of numbers.

You’ll begin by looking at fractions. The course explains the difference between the numerator and the denominator, and shows you how to write fractions as numbers and as words. Then you’ll explore how to divide an object into ten or one hundred parts and how decimals are used for measures such as money, metres and centimetres. Finally, you’ll learn how a fraction wall can help you to work out when two fractions have the same value.

As you move through the course, mini tests let you check that you’ve understood the learning and give you the chance to practise your new fraction and decimal number skills in realistic, everyday situations.
