What Our Clients Say ...

“Well equipped, comfortable, good friendly service” -- Brian T
Everyday English Skills - Reading (Level 2) PDF Print E-mail

Every day we come across different types of texts, from simple washing instructions to more complicated letters from our mortgage lender. This course shows you how to analyse and evaluate texts, and how to work out how valid and relevant they are to you.

You’ll learn to identify the main points of a text and to understand why it was written and whether it’s relevant to you. You’ll be shown how to analyse texts to see whether they are made up of facts, opinions or both. You’ll look at persuasive texts and written arguments – you’ll see how they can present a one-sided argument or a balanced discussion and you’ll learn how to recognise the difference between the two! And you’ll have the chance to practise key reading skills like skimming, scanning, detailed reading and summarising.

As you move through the course, mini tests let you check that you’ve understood the learning and give you the chance to practise your new reading skills in realistic, everyday situations.
